First time traveling to Europe - Rome or London?

>>Am I right in thinking that London is the largest city in Europe? If that's the case it could be that Rome will be more manageable for you size-wise as people can find London a bit overwhelming in that respect. <<
London is HUGE but Rome seems much more confusing/overwhelming IMO/IME. London is a very easy city to navigate/explore.
But I agree -- don't pick the city (both are wonderful) - pick the course that best meets your educational needs.

>>>Sparkchaser that is just not true. We have more disposable income living in London than we did living in Vancouver Canada.<<<
Your income is in the local currency. I assume the OP would have a lousy exchange rate from USD (currently 1 USD = .63 GBP)so it's really not comparable.
I can't imagine either program being intensive or much (any?) credit value. It's appears to be just 5-6 weeks.

I find Rome easier as the historic center is so compact you can simply walk most places. The buses and trams are easy to figure out and a monthly transit pass is pretty cheap (if you even need one).
