Can one get a RomaPass online? Is it only good for 3 consecutive days? We land on Oct. 8 and leave for Venice by train on the 11th, and will be back on the 27th and 28th to fly home on the 29th. Thanks for a link if this pass can be bought online.

thetw - I'm sure you'll enjoy Florence nevertheless! and I'm glad you've decided to concentrate on the places you're visiting rather than day trips this time.

here's the link for purchasing the RomaPass on line. Caution - the first thing you will see is that the Roma e Piu pass cannot be purchased on line at the moment. Don't worry - you don't want that one anyway. it's just the funny way they've designed the website!

The Roma Pass is consecutive days. It's not good for the train from the airport.

The silver arrow from Florence to Roma is a very easy train journey. The florence to Pisa is a local urban train so if you don't want it to be busy try and avoid the rush hour.

I stayed at Hotel Raphael in Rome a few years ago and loved it - great location, great bathrooms (important after staying in a very traditional older villa in Tuscany for a week where I showered the bathroom everyday more than myself ;-))

The Terrace restaurant overlooking Rome was also amazing.

thetw7,

I'm so glad you've decided on Paris, Florence, and Rome. Totally agree with the "skip Pompeii" crowd. And the train from Florence to Rome will be great...take the fastest one.

As far as hotels are concerned, in Florence I recommend the Hotel Lungarno. You must get a room on the river. This will make your stay in Florence a different experience. Seeing that view in the morning when you wake up is something else! Luxury that's worth it.

In Paris, I would recommend either the Pavillon de la Reine at:
http://www.pavillon-de-la-reine.com/uk/index.php

or the Park Hyatt Vendome at:
http://paris.vendome.hyatt.com/hyatt...index.jsp?null

Both are very lovely and very different. The Pavillon de la Reine is a small boutique hotel hidden away on the Place des Vosges, one of the most beautiful squares in Paris (my favorite square actually). The Park Hyatt Vendome is larger, very elegant, and in a gorgeous location on the Place Vendome. Both very good as bases for walking, eating, shopping, museums.

Either one would be special.

Have a wonderful time in Paris and Italy!
