malpensa airport to milan central train station
Hello -
Can someone please tell me the most efficient way to get from the airport to the central train station in Milan? (other than a taxi). I am getting conflicting info in my searches.
Is there a bus/train that goes directly from the airport to either Milan Centrale station or Garibaldi?
Thanks, Gary.

Best way is to take the twice hourly or so Malpensa Air Buses to Milan Centrale. The Malpensa Express train goes from the airport only to the Cordona station in central Milan but not to Central station - so this is not the way to go if going the Central station.

Depends what you mean by "efficient". There are several companies that run buses directly from Malpensa (and every other airport in the area) to the Central Station. Depending on traffic, this can take 1 to 1.5 hours.
The Malpensa Express train to Cadorna is more reliable in terms of duration of travel, but, especially with luggage, it can be a pain to get from Cadorna to the Central Station on the metro.
If you want to do it, I have some tips on using the Milan metro on http://www.beginningwithi.com/italy/...ilanmetro.html

There are two bus companies that have direct service between Malpensa and Milano Centrale. Here's a link from the Malpensa airport site that gives you timetables and prices: http://tinyurl.com/y5h83m.

As i remember the Cordona transfer to the metro was not seemless, at least a few years ago and you had to cross a street and climb down some stairs to get to the metro - not fun with luggage. However, taxis met the airport trains right where you got off the train.

I'm a fan of the buses that run from Malpensa to Milan Centrale. If I remember correctly, it was €5, took about an hour, and let off right off the side of the train station.
Here's one of the bus companies http://www.malpensashuttle.it/e-default.htm
There is another bus company, but cannot seem to find their schedule or information online. Doesn't matter either way, about the same price (give or take 0.50&euro and gets you to the same place in the same time.
When you get to the airport, just ask for the bus to Milan Centrale, and you'll be pointed to the nearest departing bus.
