First Paris trip - please help!

My husband and I will leave for 7 days in Paris in about a week. Should we exchange US dollars before our arrival at CDG or is there an ATM machine. Would airport shuttle be best way to get to Ferrandi hotel in 6TH.
Has anyone stayed at this hotel? Is it clean, friendly, and well located? We want to attend a concert, however none are scheduled at Ste Chapelle during our stay. Is concert at St Julien Le Pauvre recommended? Should we purchase tickets online? Thanks for any info you can give - any suggestions are appreciated.

Try to arrive to Paris CDG with some French Francs in your pocket just to cover any incidentals that may come your way before getting to an ATM at the airport. There are some posts regarding locations of ATM at the CDG airport and, more specifically exchange tips. I will strongly encourage you to do a search under the 'Paris' topic and browse thru the unbelievable amounts of information and tips you will find already posted. I urge you to take your time in doing this as you will find info on some posts that you'l never find in any Paris travel book and that could take a trip from average to outstanding. This includes how to get from CDG to the 6th by metro (much cheaper!), what/how to pack for Paris, what/where are the best buys, etc,etc...

Judy,
Try and have some francs on hand, there are ATM's at CDG but we've always found it easier to have currency in the country we are visiting when we arrive (you never know!) I would not recommend taking the Metro into the city unless you are traveling with little or no luggage, it's too much hassle with stairs, etc. It may be cheaper then the shuttle or a cab, but it's not a fun way to start your vacation if you have any luggage, also if your arrival cooincides with rush hr. the locals will not appreciate you either. The shuttle is fine (do a search, the subject comes up constantly). They take credit cards too by the way. Personally I prefer a cab, but the time of day & day of week you are traveling can make a difference in fares. We've used the shuttle as well and had no problems. Sorry I can't help with the hotel!

Judy,

Do a search on both the Paris Shuttle and Ste. Chappelle. I posted messages relevant to both recently. Have a great trip.

Hi Judy,
We used the Paris Shuttle from Orly to the 6th on our trip in September. We pre-paid via the Web using our Visa. Even though they were late to pick us up (Paris traffic), we would use them again. We had exchanged 50 U.S. dollars in the States so we didn't have to find an ATM at the airport. Have a great time.

Hi Judy: I haven't stayed at the Ferrandi but friends have and loved it. It's very charming and elegant and on a wonderful St. Germain neighborhood street, with good local restaurants, patisseries, etc. Excellent Left Bank location for walking anywhere. Definitely get your tickets online for the concert at St. Julien Le Pauvre--very old atmospheric church on the Left Bank across from Notre Dame.

I like to bring $75-$100 worth of francs with me. Saves time and makes me feel secure. Have fun.
