Hello Friends,
Am back with a few Queries..
24-27 th September => Am at Lucerne.
28 - 30 th Sept => Am at Wengen.
Q1:=> I would like to know if Aletsch Glacier and Junfrau is in same location? Does that a whole day trip ? if "Weather" plays good then from which location shall this be planned?
Q2:=> On Gornegrat - Zermatt - Glacier 3000 ! .Are all these places can be covered in single day trip and which location is better to plan this. I have planned a surprise short Helicopter ride through Air Zermatt on the very day.
Q3;=> What kind of weather Do I expect during this period in Swiss.. Do we need to plan lot of Layers..?

Hi again,
Glacier 3000 is nowhere near Zermatt or Gornegrat. It would take 4h to 4h30 to travel from Zermatt to the cable car to Glacier 3000.
When will you be in Zermatt? I see that you'll be in Luzern and in Mürren/Wengen, but I don't see any overnights in Zermatt. Do you know that the trip from Wengen to Zermatt will take 3h10?

From Wengen to the Jungfraujoch via Kleine Schiedegg and yes you see the whole length of the Aletsch Glacier from the Jungfraujoch - you can walk at a tip of a glacier itself. Seeing the miles of Aletsch Glacier from the top is an awesome site.

To find prices for hotels in Lucerne and Berner Oberland (still want to stay in Murren? Or going with Interlaken or Lauterbrunnen?), I would suggest looking at hotelscombined.com. Will give you many hotels with various companies' offers. Price differences between the offers for the same exact hotel and dates can be astonishing.

BTW - We've been in Switzerland in those areas in September. Was not busy. Make sure you get to the Schnygge Platte (spelling?) in the BO, if still open at that time. One of my most memorable excursions.

I mean ,,, if I am doing. Rigi - Titlis - jungfrau - Zermatt (if possible) then Still Glacier 3000 is highly recommended or I can leave it for next time..
On the same day I go to jungfrau can we do Schilthorn the same day..?

Very possible - trains to Jungfraujoch go via Lauterbrunen so you can go up to the top (also via Grindelwald) to Kleine Scheidegg, hop on the Jungfraujoch trains then come down to Lauterbrunnen from where:
you hop an aerial cable way to Grutschalp, then a train to Murren and then one of the longest cable ways in the Alps to Piz Gloria and the Schilthorn - not sure which one I like the most - each very different - go for it. If you have a Swiss Pass it can be used in full for the dable and train from Lauterbrunnen to Murren and 50% off the cable from there to The Schilthorn - making a great use of a day on a Swiss Pass if a flexipass.

Just a week more to my trip from India and I need some advice to do some last minute changes. here are my questions.
Q1 > Share an Over view of How I can Plan my Day 4 . In this Day I would like to travel from Lucerne and visit Gruyeres, Broc, Montreux through Golden Pass railway. Any suggestion for Nice place for Lunch enroute..
Does Swiss pass have Free / discount in this train journey?
Q2 > Day 3 I would like to Add up Glacier paradise - Matterhorn Zermatt from Lucerne.. Help me on this Trip . Can I take some train from Lucerne? I would like to visit Matterhorn as a day trip .
I know Swandav advised its a 3 hours trip from Wengen but I dint planned for stay up there,,.
Any suggestion for Nice place for Lunch enroute..

1- Swiss pass covers all the train fares, even of offical GPass train in full though reservations for places in observations cars are recommended and cost a few Swiss francs extra.
If you take the GP all the way from Lucerne to those places you will not have time to do it all - take the faster route to Broc and then Gruyerers and then connect from Gruyeres to the Golden Pass train back to Spiez, then faster trains to Lucerne.
Gruyeres would make a nice meal spot IMO.
Will try to answer your other questions later.

To get the Golden Pass routing from Luzern, you have to add "via Zweisimmen." If you don't do that, you'll be routed via Fribourg & Bulle.
Luzern - Gruyeres on the Golden Pass 4h58; leave at 08.00 and arrive at 12.58, with changes at Bern, Zweisimmen, and Montbovon. Have lunch. Visit the cheese demonstration and walk the village. I guess you would be leaving around 15.00.
Travel to Broc-Fabrique, 26 minutes. The tour at the Chocolate Factory will probably take 2-3 hours, including waiting time.
So you would be starting your trip to Montreux at around 18.00. You would arrive at about 20.00. Chillon closes at 18.00 (no entry after 17.00). And of course it's getting dark now at around 19.00, so you wouldn't see much on the train trip.
Do you plan to travel all the way back to Luzern?

Ok. Swandav, So . what I understand is ..Managing Grueyeres - Broc - Montreux - Golden pass rail. all these 4 are not Manageable.
So , could we plan only Gryures & broc in GP rail.. and leave Montreux for next time..

Again. The trip from Luzern to Gruyeres on the Golden Pass route takes 4h58. That's 5 hours. Do you really want to spend 10 hours sitting on a train in one day?
Doing it from Wengen will make it marginally shorter -- it only takes 4h to go to Gruyeres from Wengen.
If you think you'll be in Switzerland again and will see Montreux, then do Gruyeres and Broc at that time. They are closer to Montreux, and it makes mroe sense to do it then.
Alternatives would be a great day in Spiez or in Gstaad (while lies along the GP route). It takes 3h to get from Wengen to Gstaad.
I think you simply need to acknowledge the problems of limited days and too much in your wish basket.

Another note -- if you just want to take the Golden Pass route, you can do it on Day #8, when you travel from Wengen to Geneva. You'll have to bring your cases with you, but at least you'll be able to enjoy the route.
To get this route, just enter

I think you can book these seats on the official site but you may have to pay an upgrade to first class if you have a 2nd class ticket or pass - there are only I believe on the Zweissimmen to Montreux portion - one of the most scenic.

I'll also add that those VIP seats sell out quickly, so you need to reserve those seats asap. Your Swiss Pass will cover the fare of the train, but you'll need to pay extra for the reservations (and for the upgrade to first class).

Hello dear friends,,
1. As per Swandav s' Advice I Do Golden pass line to Geneva on my last day from Wengen. But SBB replied to my email saying 1 st oct. VIP seats are not available. So, is it still Ok to travel in GP panaromic in 2nd class. ? ( or atleast upgraded 1 st class. if not VIP seats..)
2. On day 4. as advised..I do gruyeres - broc and if in case I cannot enjoy a bit of Montreux , then Cant I directly come to Luzern from Broc.. I saw trains are there..I ll leave Montreux for next time visit.
