first cruise starting in venise

We are a British couple with a 17 yrs old son going on our first cruise. We leave from Venise on the Splendour of the Seas visiting Greek islands and Turkey. We live near Geneva Switzerland and are traveling down to Venise on the overnight sleeper train. Here are our questions!Does anyone know of a good hotel between the railway station and where the ship docks for an overnight stay so we don't need to haul our cases through Venise. As regards dress code on the ship, what is the price of hiring a tuxido?Does the dress code apply to young ados(17).We would love some possitive feedback about the ship but really just tell us what you think.

If you go to this message board, you will find all the information you need. It is a message board for cruises. There are reviews from people that have been on the cruise you are taking. It's a wealth of information!

Arzier - Your best bet would probably be to stay near Piazzale Roma (- only a couple of minutes by taxi or shuttle bus from the cruise terminal).

These hotels are all nearby:

http://www.hotelsantachiara.it/

http://hotelarlecchino.com/

http://www.cadoge.it/

You might find this link useful for other hotels in that area:

For info re the shuttle bus to the port from Piazzale Roma go to:

Hope this helps ...

Thank you for your info.I am looking into the hotels you suggested. We intend to stay in Venice after our cruise.
Do you have any suggestions as to what we can do with our luggage when we arrive off our overnight train,so that we can spend some time visiting Venice before boarding the ship later in the day ?
