Finding my long lost Italian friend
I was hoping I could get some help with this. When I was in college a few years ago, I was good friends with an exchange student from Italy. We both graduated and went our separate ways. She tried to get a job here but couldn't so she went back to Italy I believe. We haven't talked since. We just lost touch.

I'm going to Italy for a week in August and would love to be able to meet up with her some how. I have her full name and address (at least what her parent's address was when we were in school). Does anyone know how I might go about locating her? All the people search things I've seen on the web are for the US or they cost big bucks. I think to start I'll send a letter to the address and hope she gets it. Any other ideas?
Thanks!
Ang

Hi,

Would your school have kept tabs on her? That MIGHT be a dead end for liability issues though (they might not give it out on the chance that anyone asking for it could be a stalker, for instance). Can't hurt to ask though.

Your best bet may be the parent's address - I doubt people move as much as Americans do, althought I could be wrong, sorry to stereotype.

Or, perhaps just pick up a copy of an Italian guidebook, find the number for "information" use the area code for her town & call... that could be the easiest thing of all! How's your Italian?

Thank you for your responses!
Sharon, I do plan on sending her letter to her parents house and hope she gets it.

Beth, that is a good idea. I will try to contact MSU and see if they have a current address for her. Hopefully that wouldn't be a problem for them to give that to me considering they post on the web all the current student's addresses. Also, I may try your idea of calling information to get her phone number. My husband will definetly have to call because I know but a few words of Italian.

Thanks again! Hopefully I can find her!

Since you already have her parents' address, and people don't move too often, you probably have everything you need. If you want her phone number, you have a choice of telephone directories in Italy on this site:
http://www.teldir.com/eng/euro/it
