final 6 days in italy?
We're trying to decide how to divide up our last 6 days in Italy for our May honeymoon. It's now down between these options: 6 full days in Florence, enabling us to take a couple of trips to Siena, Lucca, etc, or 3 1/2 days + 4 nights in Florence, then 2 nights on Lake Como. We're leaving out of Milan. I'd love to see Como, but would kind of hate to spend less time in Florence, especially if it denies us those little side trips into Tuscany. If it makes any difference, we're looking to stay at the Villa d'Este on Lake Como. Opinions appreciated.

In May, one of the most beautiful times of the year in Italy, I think I would spend 3 days in Florence and 3 days in the Tuscan countryside. There are lots of suggestions on the forum for romantic places in Tuscany. There is so much to see and do in Florence that I would suggest staying there for 3 days and moving to the more relaxed countryside for 3 more.

I can't comment on how to split up your days because I will travel to Tuscany for the first time in April 2005.
However, I have stayed at the Villa D'Este and loved the place. The room we stayed in was large including the bathroom. There is a spa on the hotel grounds and it was fabulous. The grounds are gorgeous with a great view of Lake Como. Close by to ferry service too. The restaurant was OK. Good service and I want to go back!!!

I am not sure of the rest of your trip, but you should try to spend half of your time outside the major cities. I would split it 3-3--you can see Florence in 2 days and day trip to Siena the other. After 12 trip to Italy, the lakes are still my fav. I would stay in the mid-lake area---Cernobbio is too far south.
