Films with awesome Italian scenery

Would anyone like to let me know of the films they've seen with really fantastic, extensive Italian scenery?

" A House in Umbria" starring Maggie Smith made for TV, but released in cinemas in some countries and probably available on DVD has some great scenic shots.

Two movies that aren't that great but show Italy being beautiful: Only You, and Under the Tuscan Sun. One great movie with beautiful Italy- The Talented Mr. Ripley. Although Mongibello is a fictional town-- the scenes there are actually various islands off the coast of Naples. Ischia is one of them.

Filmed in Tuscany. Good movie, too.

"Heaven" with Cate Blanchett. Beautiful scenery in Tuscany. Don't miss out the helicopter shot in the DVD extras.

"Malena" was filmed in Siracusa, Sicily and gives a feel for that island in the 50s.

George Clooney made "The American" in an effort to help the under-touristed region of Abruzzo to recover from a devastating earthquake. It was thought that if people saw how beautiful Abruzzo is, then more tourists would get interested in visiting.

Don't know if these were mentioned in the other thread, but "L'Avventura' is about a staggeringly beautiful road trip through southern Italy. The movie "Letters to Juliet" is partly a travelogue of the wine country of Tuscany & Umbria. "It Happened in Naples" is largely set in Capri. One segement of "The Yellow Rolls Royce" takes place on the Amalfi coast.

In general, any Italian movie set in rural Italy will show you the amazing natural aspect of Italy, even if only in black & white. "Stromboli" is quite memorable, about how the lanscape shapes the people.
