Roughly how long is the ferry trip from the Port of Pireas to Santorini? In mid September is the sea relatively calm?

I took this route about 2 weeks ago. Left Pireas at 7:30 AM took high speed on Hellenic Seaways (spelling?) and arrived in Santorini at roughly 11:30. There were no tourist seats, so in business class it was roughly 67 euros

It's been about 3 years, but the car ferry we took was about 7 hours from Pireas to Santorini. We went in April and I got seasick within the first hour and thought I was going to die for the next 6 hours. Rough seas in April I guess. But upon arrival in Santorini, I forgot about my seasickness and it was worth the trip there.

Hmmm...Thanks all. Seems more cost effective and time wise to fly. What are your thoughts?

It's a matter of personal preference. I prefer flying, but I've been there many times and for me the approach by ferry is no longer worth the time lost. Aegean Airlines has the best prices, and if you're lucky you might be able to get one of their discounted tickets.

As to calm waters: If you're on a large car ferry you'll hardly notice if the sea's not smooth.

We are planning to fly to Santorini from Athens and then take the Highspeed ferry back. They offer VIP seat or table, as well as business seat or table. Does anyone know the difference?
