As far as I know there's no such thing, but there is an overnight ferry from Newcastle to Ijmuiden (the port for Amsterdam, with bus connections to A'dam). Newcastle is roughly 1 1/2 by train from Edinburgh, and there's a bus from Newcastle station to the ferry terminal. The ferry is run by DFDS Seaways.

There is however to be a ferry from later this spring. It is not yet fully licensed, and the start date is therefore not yetprecisely known. It's likely to be May or June.

It will be run by Superfast Ferries from Rosyth, just 10 miles outside Edinburgh on the Forth to Zeebrugge.

You can get details on
http://www.superfastscotland.com/

I DO know that!

You just can't know how excited some of us here are to have a direct link to the continent. It will save me hours of driving. It would probably take as long to get from Edinburgh to Newcastle as from Zeebrugge to Amsterdam, but from Aberdeen, the saving will be HUGE!!

I believe the service will start running at the end of May .... my parents are booked for the second week in June. The prices aren't cheap though, with them paying around £400 for a car (includes 4 passengers - no discount for only 2!) and a 'luxury' cabin!

Jenny
