ferries in Norway

Can anyone tell me the name of a site which will give me info (such as schedules) on ferries in Norway?

See http://www.hurtigruten.com/
There's a great reference site for ferries all over the world at http://www.ex.ac.uk/~mspunter/ifg/

Hi, steve
Much depends on what ferries you look for. Each county has got at least one. (even counties without a coast line)
In the Sognefjord area, try a search on http://www.fylkesbaatane.no Lots of info, but navigation can be hard.
Further south(Hardanger) hsd is a keyword. http://ww.nsb.no is the internet address of Norwegian railways. Chose the links to different tours like the "nutshell" or the big or small "triangle tours", and you'll get lots of good transportation and ferry links.
Or mail me.

Thanks, Bjorn.
Actually I'm trying to help my computer illiterate brother in law.
He and his friends will be traveling in the area of Bergen and to the north but not too far north. They are trying to find a schedule for the ferries so they won't get stuck in some fjord.
Do you have any advice for them??

Hi again.
Public transportation companies are most often organized by county. Below you'll find the internetaddresses for three areas relevant to Bergen. More and Romsdal is the northmost, then comes Sogn and at last Bergen-Hardanger area. Ease of navigation differs, and so do language, I'm sorry.

More and Romsdal

Sogn og Fjordane http://www.fylkesbaatane.no

Around Bergen/south of Bergen

My best advice is that your brother in law contacts some Bergen Tourist Office. I suppose he will get adequate help there. If he wants more detailed info on forehand, I'll need some more details on where he wants to go, in order to give some assistance on routes etc.
The chance to get undeliberately stuck in some fjord I think is low. Ferries most often corresponds with buses and or railway. Or they go circles, ie they will bring you back to your starting point, Bergen for example.
If expensive fjordcruises with lodging aboard is not the option, I think there will not be ferry only, but a combination bus/ferry. Confusing? Not my intent, but send some place names and time periods, then maybe we'll get closer.
