Ferrari's (Ferrarii for the plural form?) are made near the town of Maranello. The town of Ferrara is a beautiful little town in the same region and shares nothing with Ferrari except several syllables and consonants. It is my understanding that you can't get a tour of Ferrari unless you intend to buy one. But I believe they have a gift shop and maybe some exhibits.

How are you arriving from Florence? Ferrara is accessible by train. It is a delightful little town with a castle complete and moat, Palazzo Diamante with a raised diamond-shaped pattern on its facade, and other villas and palazzos to view.

If you are trying to see ferrari's then from Florence go A1 to Bologna then Modena and follow signs to Maranello. You need a reservation to go to the factory(went last year-it was great) but the whole town is Ferrari--a museum and stores that sell nothing else. The whole town is Farrari. Ferrara is up A13 from Bologna---nothing in common.

Yes, the Ferrari museum is well worth seeing and yes, the whole of Maranello lives, breathes and even eats Ferrari! If you are there at lunch or dinner time, do try 'Il Cavallino' restaurant. This is almost an unofficial Ferrari canteen, where senior staff entertain clients and guests, the whole restaurant is decorated with Ferrari memorabilia and the food is excellent.
