february day trip ideas?
My hubby will have a 6 day off from work by the end of this month and i was thinking of starting exploring germany on those days. Are there any good places to go during this winter time? We are both new here in Germany and we are excited to travel. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

I would consider driving south to Heidelburg and the Neckar River Valley, then on to Karlsruhe and the Black Forest. If you have time cross into France and visit Strasbourg and the Alsace region. You may have to stay overnight to do it all.

I was stationed in nearby Landstuhl some years ago. Parts of the Rhine and Mosel Valleys are doable in day, but a weekend is better. Trier, Bernkastel Kues are a couple of places to consider.
You are near a wine region with Bad Durkheim as one of its principal cities.
We used to go to Verdun for lunch, but it was tough to drive back.
Bad Kreuznach is a possibility. I remember visiting the Romanesque Cathedral at Speyer, I believe in a day.
The Pfalz is loaded with small towns featuring the local Gasthaus. We used to like a drive in the country with a chance stop at a Gasthaus.
A Michelin Green Guide will have a wealth of 1 and 2 star sights within a day visit range.
Regards, Gary
