Favorite Umbrian hotels?
My husband and I will spend a week in Umbria in Nov.with car. Have already explored Perugia to Arezzo so would like to find a wonderful place "with character and charm" in or near Spoleto, and then move on to Orvieto for a couple of days. Excellent traditional food is a must. Any suggestions? Also, does anyone know if Fodor still publishes the Rivages Guides series (eg., Hotels and Country Inns of Character and Charm in Italy --first edition, l995)???

The 2001 edition is published by Hunter
Publishing, www.hunterpublishing.com. We just used it to make some reservations.

Betsy, Look at Palazzo Bocci in Spello.
Try www.emmeti.it/pbocci.it
Charming place in central location.
Also consider La Badia outside Orvieto.

Betsy,
I just returned from 3 weeks in Italy and spent 3 days in Spoleto at a charming small hotel, Hotel San Luca, in the old part of Spoleto. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. It was absolutely charming, the best hotel we stayed in during our trip.

I am an American art historian who has lived in Umbrai for 30 years. Book at the exceptionally lovely Villa Pambuffetti in Montefalco, only 15 minutes from Spoleto. You will find it PERFECT! If you want more info, contact me at [email protected]
