Looking for suggestions. Anyone have a favorite restaurant or favorite place for paella?

You can try La Trainera, Lagasca 60. Tel: 576 05 75. Excellent fish and seafood restaurant. Not really cheap but definitely worth it. Their fish soup is a whole meal and delicious!

Jen, <BR> <BR>Joelle's recommendation is an excellent one. La Trainera's fish soup and all fish and seafood entress are delicious. <BR>A popular place, so make reservations. It's relatively casual, will light wood tables and floors and blue accents. Great browsing and window shopping in this upscale part of town, also. I may have a few more restaurants at home. If I do, I'll email you. ( I seem to remember a terrific and modest fish spot near the theatre district LA ALTUN?? that's pretty close. Eat upstairs and take a look at the platters before ordering more than one. <BR>

Dear Jen, <BR>If you do a search,I have posted some of my favorites in all price ranges on the "Casa Imperial/Palace Hotel" thread and another really charming place (and easy on the budget) on the "Hotel Arosa" thread. I'd just like to second Joelle and Michelle's recommendation of La Trainera-you'll be hard pressed to find fresher, more perfectly prepared fish/seafood anywhere in Madrid. It has a Michelin star, attracts a very well-heeled, well-dressed Madrid clientele (great people watching), the American diplomatic community frequents it, and it's located on a very upscale street in the fashionable Salamanca shopping/residential district. (Lots of beautiful stores on Claudio Coello, Serrano and Lagasca). Not inexpensive, certainly, but well worth the splurge. It's also an easy walk from Plaza Colon-up Goya a few blocks then turn left on Lagasca, then 2-3 blocks on right hand side. <BR>
