No one's mentioned Monoprix, a great chain for moderately priced items of all types, including food.

We're just back, and we hit BHV for an adapter plug, then went upstairs for some jams and mustards. I got to Samaritaine at closing time, had just enough time to get into the lower level to pick up some Legos for my son (25). We shopped for soaps etc in Printemps because it was very near our hotel in the 13th. Most of our "shopping" was done in the Champion market. We love to see how the locals shop for groceries and what's available. We're no fashion hounds, but we grocery shop! We also loved to stroll through the outdoor markets along the streets.
I was surprised to find prices for Bourjois products similar at Sephora, Printemps and Monoprix. ( I can't believe I paid 15E for a tube of lipstick!!)

I loved M&S until they closed it down, but only for the food halls -- wonderful stuff to take on a picnic; but my all time favorite is right across the street -- Au Printemps. Why? Because they have THE BEST selection of wash mitts in Paris, and the sales are really good.

I love monoprix for the foodstore. I used the monoprix on rue de rivoli. A small supermarket downstairs with decent prices. Not the fancy stuff of Bon Marche or the others, but good for everyday.
