I am going to Nice,in June, with my husband.I have been browsing the web and looking at guides.Does anyone have a favorite Hotel in the $150 to 225 price range that would put us in a good location in Nice?WE PLAN TO BE THERE FOR 5 DAYS.HOPING TO USE NICE AS A BASE FOR THE AREA.
Will be staying in Aix for another week later.

In the higher end of your price range ( unfortunately, these all may run substantially more for June) try:

Le Meridien
Hotel Grimaldi
Hotel West End

These hotels could be a little cheaper:

Hotel Splendid
Hotel Gounod ( spelling)

Good luck!

Possibly the best hotel in Nice is the La Pérouse; you might be able to snag an on-line discount rate, although not for one of the sea-view rooms. You might consider the Mercure Promenade des Anglais, which is right across the street from the Mediterranean and only a block or so from Vieux Nice. The Mercure is a 3* chain hotel in the Accor group; check their web site for good deals, and go for a sea-view room if you can.

I second the Mercure promenade from the standpoint of location. We stayed there a week last Sept. Our room was small but as Underhill said, go for an ocean view room. They are larger. The young ladies at the front desk are great. And again, the location is fantastic. Enjoy, CJ
