re; Bamberg v Regensberg- I did both last year, Bamberg is better, its smaller and more picturesque, but Regensberg is still great- stay at the fraulichen turken, cheap and central.
re; the czech republic winning the newspaper poll- maybe its cos the smaller towns such as cesky krumlov and cesky budjevice are really cool

First of all, Paris. It's charming, lovely, full of art and history.
Second, Prague. The Paris of the east, so beautiful.
Third, Florence. Have you ever seen the sun refleting on Arno river when you was at Ponte Vecchio?
All cities have a heart and a soul waiting to be discovered, and all of them are special, but if I had to choose, this is my selection.

Débora

Point of view: 22yr SM:

Best:
1. Munich
2. London
3. Fr. Riviera (Cannes, Nice, Monaco)
4. Prague
5. Amsterdam
6. Lake Constance (Bodensee) Area

Worst:
1. All of Belgium (rude, rude, rude. makes Paris look friendly)

Not very impressed with Paris, the history and museums were great but, unfortunately, ran into quite a bit of rudeness. The south of France however was very friendly.

Memo for the rude waiter in Brussels at the Cafe Orlando and his absolutely horrible WWII joke... thanks a lot, idiot.

Quick Stats Check (not including mine):
Paris - 34 (did not double count)
Venice - 16
Florence - 13
Prague, Rome - 12
London - 11
Salzburg - 10
Copenhagen - 9
Vienna - 8
Lucerne - 7
Berlin, Amsterdam, Edinburgh - 6
Munich - 5

I'll have to write back after visiting as a 28yr MM... I'm sure my votes will change.

Thanks for all of your great posts!

I love the Scandanavian cities, especially Stockholm and Uppsalla (sorry if I have spelt this incorrectly!) The people are friendly and Stockholms situation on the water is beautiful, as are the surrounding lakes. The summer is just the right temperature to visit. I also visited Stockholm in December with my parents and it was very romantic, we stocked up on thermals before we went.
Oslo is also pretty. Travelling alone I always felt safe in Sweden and Norway.
Also flying into Helsinki is the most wonderful of views with the Archipelgo below you as you come into land. All these cities had wonderful open air folk museums which I love. Stockholms old town on one of the cities many islands is so worth a visit (I think it is called Gamla Stan in Swedish).

Last July my husband and I ran away to Verona to marry in secret and fell in love with everything about this beautiful city.
We honeymooned in Venice, which was incredible, but returning to Verona for our first anniversay was like coming home ( and can still make me feel tearful just thinking about being there).
