kerouac, good to know about the Sunday car bans in different neighborhoods. And perhaps we'll be there for the citywide carless day next year.
Nelson - somehow I won't worry about missing the Ritz! And I'm pleased to hear that Paris also grabbed you! Paris bewitched us many years ago and I'm excited to be going back again.

Just as a data point, if you want to go to Milan during its fashion week, you will experience much higher hotel prices across the board and a lot of difficulty getting reservations in many restaurants. I will also say that when I lived in NYC, I often found Fashion Week there a tremendous nuisance when it came to navigating the center of Manhattan, which I couldn't avoid for work reasons.
That's a long way of saying I don't think its an unreasonable question for a traveler to ask for info about from people who claim to know a lot about Paris.
FWIW, the one time I stayed in Paris during its Fashion Week, I didn't realize how crowded it would be around a theater in the 8th arr. where I had tickets for an evening concert. I thought I was leaving enough time to make my way to the theater, but ended up having to run because of traffic and crowded sidewalks.
So while others might not be able to "imagine" how it could possibly negatively affect a tourist -- well, that's why people ask questions instead of relying on their or other people's imaginations.

Onefinestay is an apartment rental firm - an upmarket one.
They deal with everything, you do not have any contact with the owner of the property.
We have a flat in London that we let through onefinestay. They are very professional. They get the flat ready, make up the beds, deal with any issues that come up during the stay.
I have met several of the other owners in London - they are mostly people who travel a lot, or who don't live there on a permanent basis. Sometimes people let their flat while they are on a posting abroad, sometimes only during holidays when they are not there.

Just like in NYC, if you don't want it to impact your trip, you can be smart and avoid it. The details lie in the planning.

This is obviously mostly a question for separating 'high end' visitors from 'normal' or 'budget' visitors. Only the high end visitors could ever be inconvenienced by the Fashion Weeks. As for traffic, for taxi or Uber lovers, I have absolutely never heard of Fashion Week creating traffic jams. Paris would love to feel so important, but no.

If you are talking about Paris Fashion Weeks, maybe that it is true. But even budget travelers are likely to find Milan Fashon Week has a negative impact on their hotel choices. If a tourist has a choice about visiting Milan during Fashion Week or during a different time of year, I'd recommend they skip it.
When I (inadvertantly) visited Paris during a Fashion Week, I was certainly not a "high-end" tourist. Going to a concert at Theatre des Champs-Elysses was something I always wanted to do, and my balcony seats were inexpensive. The Avenue Montaigne was swamped with fashion house parties, making access to the area quite difficult due to traffic jams.
A lot of people posting in this thread have an ideology they want to push and project an image of themselves and people visiting Paris that is really incredibly narrow for a city that hosts millions of tourists and has a very varied and robust Fashion scene which they apparently never come into contact with. Stupid!

Avenue Montaigne is just a microcosm of all that is superficial and glitzy in Paris. Paris has 6290 streets. You were just on the wrong one. If you had taken the metro to Alma or Franklin, you would have experienced no problem at all.
Check out your own ideology, massimop.

The myth - and it is a myth - of high fashion in Paris died out in the 1960's.
People still cling to the image of a "titi Parisienne" as thin, dressed impeccably and very, very rich.
It isn't remotely true. Most Parisiennes and Parisiens cannot afford to shop - they can only dream of window shopping.
Most people buy one or three items of clothing to last the year.
And most of them buy good shoes.
