family trip advice

We planning a trip to Italy in May with my two daughters 17 & 20, my husband and ederly mom. We have been to Rome, Florence, and Venice. This time we would like to stay in a location where mom could opt out and relax is she pleases but we could venture out to some interesting sites. Also, I am looking for a town that is not so difficult to get around in hilly? Thank you for your help.

what about renting a villa (or space in a villa) that has all the ammenities you could want but is close to a town that you could drive or take a bus to? There a dozens out there, some come with cooking lessons for a small fee. That might be fun for everyone.
