Falmouth Maritime Museum
Just a quick report on today's visit to Falmouth
I've been visiting Cornwall off and on for some years now and I've never been to Falmouth before. Today I dropped by this Museum. At £16+ it is not a cheap visit but if you have a history of boats, as I do, it is a great visit. On entry I asked about a special steam yacht I was interested in, "not on display sir", I then went around the place looking at small dinghy sized vessels from around the world but especially post Industrial revolution. So lots of early planing vessels etc. Nice lloking tea shop with fantastic views, special collection of tattoo stories.
On leaving, the Director had left a message that my favoured steam vessel was locked away due to some dock collapse problem and they gave me a short explanation of their plans for the boat. Very kind.
Ate at Kona across the Plaza, very good value, a surfer style restaurant.
Very pretty placing with hills all around, worth a visit if you get to Cornwall.

I love Falmouth. This is not the greatest museum ever, but it's cute and it's very accessible.
Enjoyed looking at the pilchards exhibit. Was in the middle of reading "Poldark" and that allowed me to get a grip on the situation.
My best memory of that museum, however, is watching the school groups on a tour. We sat there and laughed. There's something about letting little kids get in and out of boats that makes them go crazy. So happy we weren't in charge of wrangling them afterwards.
