My husband and I will be in Vicenza in late September (staying 4 nights) and are interested in Palladian architecture. We will have several days there and have no problem exploring the city sights independently, but wondered about how to manage 2-3 of the villas on our own. I'm planning on touring the villas on a Saturday, as Villa Rotonda is open to the public that day. I'm not sure which other villas we will do but suggestions for 1 or 2 others are welcome! I'm looking at the tour guides, and there are a number of tour guides that are highly recommended, but rates are higher than we feel comfortable with, we'd like to see if we can manage on our own. Any advice? Public transportation vs possibly renting a car for the day? Your thoughts are most welcome and appreciated!
