Experience with Italiatour

Has anyone had any experience with Italiatour (the tour company of Alitalia)? My friend and I booked a package with Italiatour for a 7 day in Rome and Florence. The customer service has been awful!! Everytime we called to check on our reservation we had to wait on hold for over 30 minutes. Then they got us our tickets so late --- 3 days before we are scheduled to leave. To top it off, they got my name misspelled on my ticket. Needless to say, no one seemed to really be concerned about our inconvenience. Not even the managers returned my phone call when I called to straighten out the mess.

Has anyone had a better experience? I am hesitant to even travel with Alitalia now. And I certainly won't be recommending it to friends.

Hi Lisa:
Oh, yes Lisa. We will never do any business with them. Do the text search. There were very intersesting information about this company. We had a similar experience with them and had to cancel a whole deal. We had a great trip traveling independently. Who needs them anyway and we don't speak Italian. I hope you will have a wonderful time.

Last year we booked with them and had no trouble. This year we couldn't even get through to them on the phone. I agree with the comment 'who needs them anyway' because I'm certainly not a seasoned traveler and found it incredibly easy to book hotels and air without them using this board for a little guidance!

Lisa,
As I read your post it brought back horrible awful memories of dealing with this company....as a matter of fact I had to doublecheck to make sure your post wasn't the one I had written in February. I know what you mean about the waits on hold, not being able to talk to a supervisor--one operator there told me it was the worst place he'd ever worked!
We ended up cancelling 2 weeks before we were supposed to go and rebooked everything from the internet and had a wonderful experience--just returned 3/10. We are fighting the deposit and cancellation fee with American Express--it was AMEX who had advertised 10percent off italiatours if you booked with your AMEX card so hopefully we have some recourse. Good luck.

I also had a terrific experience with them last year; this year it has been a nightmare trying to get through to them. I'm just hoping I get my tickets in time!
