In my experience, Auto Europe is a "broker" type of organization. The last two rentals were through Auto Europe but we actually rented from Avis. This year Auto Europe matched us initially with another company, but I opted for Avis because I know how to find the rental office on both ends: Lausanne and Zurich. It might cost me a few bucks extra, but my Avis experiences have been favorable in the past.

As someone else mentioned, there has been a fair bit of discussion on AE on this forum so you may want to try a search. Although some of the discussions were started by people who had been unhappy with AE, I think the majority of people have been very pleased. <BR> <BR>From personal experience, we have used AE about 4 times and have always been totally satisfied. We are using them again in a month or so when we go to Belgium and Holland. If they are offering you the best rate ( which they probably are) I would not hesitate to go with them.

Just returned from a week in Bavaria and had an excellent experience with AutoEurope! They used Avis, and we were very pleased -- the car was exactly what we had reserved and the agents at the Avis desk in Munich we absolutley delightful and very helpful! <BR> <BR>Of course, AutoEurope's price could not be beat, either. Go for it!

We used AE is last summer, got a great price, big car for our family of five. Friendly fast service. I smashed the rim of my rental on some street curbs in Wales, thought I had to pay a deductible, they said it happens all the time and I paid nothing. Great folks!

We used AE the last 2 years in Italy, and plan to use them again. I really scraped up the car in '98, backing out of a narrow alleyway in Perugia. But, as with Gene's experience, they said that I didn't have to pay anything! I've always had good luck with them, and will continue to use them.
