Experience Shipping from Istanbul?

Hi. Does any one have experience having fragile items shipped successfully from Istanbul to the States? We are considering purchasing pottery or ceramics and having shipped. Does anyone have a reputable store or words of wisdom on this topic?
Thanks!

I bought quite a bit of pottery-Isnick tiles and had the shops ship them with no problems. The stores do this quite a bit. Have fun-I loved Turkey-Chris

We recently shipped carpets to Chicago through the UPS office close to the Four Seasons Sultanahmet Hotel. Their prices were significantly lower than the other couriers. And they packaged everything in your view. However, you should enquire about fragile items to make sure. We also found that commercial shippers enjoy a 20-30% discount with UPS, and used the account of a carpet shop owner we knew.

I have over the years shipped carpets and most recently lamps. If you deal with a reputable shop, pay with credit card and make sure paperwork is in order including insurance and that the shipment will arrive to your door not just a port it should be fine. Turkey seems very savvy compared to many countries in terms of international shipping. Things were packed very secure. Just make sure you know the company you are doing business with and it has some recommendations either in books, by hotel or other. Good luck.

Thank you. We have friends who experienced some unfortunate results when they had things shipped from Morocco and so I am being extra cautious. All advice will definitely be heeded.
