Excellent restaurant in Zurich

We will only have one night in Zurich and are looking for a top quality restaurant in terms of food, ambience and service. We'll be staying at a hotel near the airport and taking a taxi into town for dinner. Any suggestions are appreciated.

There is no EXCEPTIONAL restaurant in Zurich.

Two excellent ones are, as you asked for top quality:
- Petermann's Kunststuben,
160, Seestrasse.
8700 Küsnacht
Telephone: 019 100 715

- Wirtschaft zum Wiesengrund,
61, Kleindorfstrasse.
8707 Uetikon am See
Telephone: 019 206 360

Have tried Petermann's. Is OK, I think it is the best you can get in Zurich.

Lobuzz, For a truely exceptional experience you could try Blindekuh. My friends and I just went to Zurich a few weeks ago to dine here. It is a restaurant run by blind people and you eat in complete blackness. It is amazing to find out what we take for granted. And at least here in the states you couldn't do this with fire exit laws, etc.

I'm sure there is better food to be found but a more unique experience you will not!

While there is not much "Swiss" or Zurich-y about it, Cafe Terrasse is a lovely "continental" restaurant that we enjoyed very much. A very attractive large space, excellent service and the food is pretty darn good. Very lively scene (maybe even trendy?), open late, and only short walk to the lake for a post dinner stroll. Address is Limmatquai 3 (8001) Ph: 01-251-10-74 and there is a photo at www.cafe-terrasse.ch

dicky2,
Bindella is a nice restaurant, italian cuisine, but M. Bindella is Suisse, his 1st name is Rudolph...
There are quite some Bindella's in Switzerland, of an very good quality. It is some kind of a restaurant chain, but not visible at first view (No big RB, as you can find McD).
I sometimes wonder if some dishes or sauces are not centrally cooked/prepared and then dispatched (which with modern cooking standards is feasible, offers very good results and is widely practised in Parisian bistrots).
The Bindella chain offers a general very good quality.
M. Bindella has also an important wine import business, mainly Italian wine.

But please, do not confuse Bindella with TOP quality asked for by the OP.
