Evora
We are going to Evora for a two night stay. I just realized that our hotel, Alentejo Marmoris Hotel and Spa is located 47km from the city. It seems a bit far. Does anyone know of a hotel inside the city limits where we could just walk out of our hotel to dinner our hotel? We are looking for a 5* hotel at 4* prices!!!!
Thank you,
Alison

I know the Marmoris, and it's located in the marble town of Vila Viçosa.
Hotels that I've enjoyed in Evora that are walkable to all of the nice restaurants and monuments--
Albergaria de Calvário (but warning, it's hard to book, as it's extremely popular and particularly with high end cycling groups). It's a lovely hotel, not a 5 star but an excellent 4 star.
The 5 star M'ar de Ar Aqueduto, directly across from the Albergaria, much larger, with small spa and outdoor pool, noted restaurant, covered garage. 5-star at 4-star prices. It does also take cycling groups and Rick Steves groups.
The Pousada Convento is historic and directly across from the Temple of Diana in the center of town. 4-star rather than 5. Rooms run small, as it's a former convent, but the deluxe jr. suite maintains its original frescos would be my favorite room.
The most "exclusive" hotel, a former 15th century convent, is the Convento do Espinheiro, but it's located 6 km outside of town, with its own gourmet restaurant and pool. You would need to taxi into town for other dinners.
