Eurostar and luggage

My family of three will be taking the Eurostar from Paris to London in May. We will have transportation to the station. Are we responsible for handling our own luggage and getting it on and off the train? I'm trying to decide how much luggage my 2 big guys and I can handle on our own. Is there a difference in luggage service for first class? Thanks.

You are responsible for loading and unloading your own luggage. There are luggage racks at the end of each car and overhead. This is for first class, assume the same for second.

You'll also be responsible for hoisting all the luggage, and I do mean ALL of it, onto the x-ray machine, and then transporting it to the train itself, etc. One reason so many people recommend traveling light..or are you one of those people who relies totally on the "big guys" to act as beasts of burden on every trip?

from the eurostar web site:
"It is possible to register your luggage so you can travel unencumbered. (This includes bicycles and authorized firearms). The luggage will be available at the destination 24 hours after it's been checked in. There is a charge for this service, and for further information you should telephone."

We found that our luggage was impossible to fit into the overhead bin or the storage area at the back of the car. I was afraid my husband was going to have a heart attack lifting that heavy luggage and trying to jam it in the overhead bin. Finally I found an unclaimed single seat, I guess it was for the handicapped, and put our luggage in the space beside the seat.
