Europe's Most Scenic River Valleys?
Europe has some really sweet gorgeous river valleys - which ones do you favor?
GERMANY'S MOSEL VALLEY
I'll start with saying Germany's Mosel Valley, between Koblenz and Trier is the tops to me. A sinuous Mosel runs in a deep often vineyard-carpeted gorge with walls several hundred feet on most sides, with picture-postcard cute wine towns like Cochem, Bernkastlel, Zell, etc and a slew of old ruined castles looming high above the river - in summer there are numerous village wine festivals - though the nearby Rhine River Gorge gets much more play I'll take the Mosel anyday.
Other sweet river valleys - The Danube between Melk and Krems in Austria
The Elbe in Germany's Saxon Switzerland between just south of Dresden and the Czech border
And yes the castle-studded Rhine River Gorge between Koblenz and Bingen/Rudesheim.
Which river valleys have you enjoyed?
