European Lakes with Swans, Darling?
Can anyone tell me about lakes in Europe that have swans living on them?
I know that you can see swans on Lake Lucerne in Switzerland. Any others?
Tell Thin a story, sweetie darling.

Every lake in Switzerland, Austria and Germany is sure IME to be swan-full - better to ask which ponds don't have swans IMO
and the Thames in England though these birds belong to the Queen i believe - Stratford is loaded with them

Keith and I are looking for our July, 2009 vacation spot.
We will be in Egypt in December, sweetie darling, if anyone cares.

Just was in Lake Como in Bellagio - saw a few swans along the water's edge while visiting Villa Monastero, Villa Melzi and in Bellagio proper.
Guido Monzino's house, Villa Balbianello, is a must see (by water taxi dear) - a patron saint for travelers if ever there is one - the chandelier in the smoking room drips with crystal shaped fruit (and no, he never married).
Maybe you could stay at the Grand Hotel in Tremezzo

Now that I give this more thought - I bet you've already been to Lake Como. But there are swans.

When we visited Thunersee in May 2006, we had lunch at a restaurant right on the lake in Thun. Lots of swans came swimming by including a BLACK swan. I think that was the first black swan I had ever seen. I saw more swans in Thun than I have ever seen in one place before.
In Spiez, also on Thunersee, we saw a swan nesting right at the hotel near the marina.
I've also seen swans nesting in Hallstatt on the lake.
Just about every place we stopped on the Rhein, we saw swans. The Promenade in Stein am Rhein was one such example.
We spent the night before our flight out of Frankfurt Airport at a hotel in Ginsheim located on a small arm of the Rhein. There were several pairs of swans as well as geese. Nice hotel too as well as a great restaurant.
I am a big sucker for swans and ducks. I always have to carry bread to fee them everywhere we go.

It would be cool to see the swans at Coole, no?
The Wild Swans at Coole
THE TREES are in their autumn beauty,
The woodland paths are dry,
Under the October twilight the water
Mirrors a still sky;
Upon the brimming water among the stones
Are nine and fifty swans.
The nineteenth Autumn has come upon me
Since I first made my count;
I saw, before I had well finished,
All suddenly mount
And scatter wheeling in great broken rings
Upon their clamorous wings.
I have looked upon those brilliant creatures,
And now my heart is sore.
All’s changed since I, hearing at twilight,
The first time on this shore,
The bell-beat of their wings above my head,
Trod with a lighter tread.
Unwearied still, lover by lover,
They paddle in the cold,
Companionable streams or climb the air;
Their hearts have not grown old;
Passion or conquest, wander where they will,
Attend upon them still.
But now they drift on the still water
Mysterious, beautiful;
Among what rushes will they build,
By what lake’s edge or pool
Delight men’s eyes, when I awake some day
To find they have flown away?
