Spelling CORRECTION!

I said <<surname has 5 letters (2nd is the "o" from Fornarina)>>

Change that to: 2nd is the "a" from Fornarina.

I did look at it for about five minutes this morning, but I promise I'll try not to look when I'm in Paris.

Hope your knee is better, cmt.

I guess I don't know this one.

Was guessing a Jean-Francois or a Jean-Baptiste would fit the clue, but can't find anything through Google.

Champollion is way too early for it.

I guess someone else will have to solve this one.

Hi, Ger. I didn't really think you'd want to post from Italy.

You CAN find this on Google, if you can figure out what the subject is.

The knee is good. I got alarmed Monday when I was given crutches and a prescription for narcotic pain killer to use after Wednesdays's surgery. I don't need either. I'll probably feel silly staying home from work next week, and for sure I won't need to take the following week, though the dr's note covers it.

By the way, I think I'll finally scan my Turkey pics while I'm stuck home, but I lost the addresses 111op and yk gave me. Feel free to give them to me again if you'd like an invitation to the pictures.

Hi cmt, you can email me at [email protected]

(sorry about this rigmarole -- but remove NOSPAM to reply -- bascially you reverse the 111 and op in my moniker and repeat that @hotmail.com).

I look forward to seeing the pictures!

cmt-

I'm glad you have such a speedy recovery (and get all your pics scanned the same time)!

My adress is yk plus fodors at hotmail (remove "plus" and remove the spaces, I hope it's not too complicated).

I'll put it in my address book so I won't lose them again (if only I know where to look, though).

Correct! I was just about to post a correction or note. I think the museum, which was scheduled to open in 2002 (a year after Lauer's death) may not have opened yet, but I know you could still solve the puzzle by searching for a French archeologist who worked in Egypt.

This product designer (5,6) who is half-European & half African recently came out with a tableware set named (11). The set was inspired by the skyline of this city (8).

"n" from Jean-Philippe Lauer is the 5th letter of the city name.

Small hint: the designer appeared in the European Crossword Puzzle thread #6.

I know absolutely NOTHING about tableware designers, but is it Karim Rashid, and Istanbul?

You've got it!

The tableware set is called "Morphescape". The 15-piece porcelain set retails for $1775.

His yellow plastic modern sculpture was recently picked up by sanitation workers, whose boss thought it was construction debris, and was incinerated.

The sculptor: 7/7 (3rd letter is u from Istanbul)

The garbage executive: 5/7 (3rd is s from Rashid)

The city where this happened: 9 (5th is k from Karim)

Very amusing story!

This city (name=6 letters, country=6 letters, 4th letter in 1st word is "e" from Michael) is forever linked to a famous handiwork (2 words=6/8, 5th letter in 2nd word is "s" from Postleb) that was created in another country (7 letters) to commemmorate a momentous event (3 words=6/2/8, 6th letter in 3rd word is "n" from Frankfurt) in the year _____ that has forever changed the histories of these two countries involved.

What do you mean by "first word"? do you mean the city name? Or is something a two-part word?
