Geez. This took a lot of thinking before I figured part of it out. It's like "guess what I'm thinking", I don't know why you think it's easy with so little clue to work on.

It was Louis XV (took me a while to realize this - I was trying to think of a last name consists of only 2 letters!) who dedicated triangular-shaped Place Dauphine to his son & heirs.

In terms of the 1st part of the clue, it's a guess:
Dauphin = heir

I guess, in retrospect, the clue is obvious. As son = heir = dauphin etc. However, it was hard (for me at least) to figure it out if one isn't thinking about France & the fact that this clue is not about a contemporary person. In fact, I solved the clue by thinking of Louis XV (after multiple attempts of searching for people with last names consist of 2 letters).

I am sorry I didn't have a chance to post any new clues over the weekend as I was very busy.

I cannot think of any good clues right now and I am leaving for Hong Kong tomorrow morning.

Whoever wants to post the next clue please feel free to do so.

I will rejoin the game next week when I return.

Well, yk, you can always play from HK.

Have a good trip.

Re the clue -- I didn't get a chance to check in over the weekend. I think it's Henri IV who dedicated the "square" to the Dauphin and the future Louis XIII though. At least that's what I see when I Google Place Dauphine.

Of course it wasn't meant to be a giveaway, but I figured that there're so many people here who know Paris that this wouldn't be too difficult.

I thought that people would see that this is "triangular" and would think of Place Dauphine, as the shape is so unusual (not a square).

I hope I'm not "intruding" on this but since you said you wanted more people to play then here's the little I can offer:

Nine Letters, the first is an "S"

The interior of this religious edifice is considered, by many, to be the "most beautiful" of any like buildings in the entire nation. A mummy resides nearby.

Welcome to the game, intrepid!

I'm off to the airport now. I seriously doubt I'll play the game all the way from HK, as I am quite confident that my schedule will be hectic.

Have a good week & Happy Thanksgiving everybody!

I'm guessing Saint something, but are the eight letters all one word?

Sorry for the delay. No, the letters are not all in one word.

St. Peters is a great guess but is, unfortunately, incorrect.

I'll clarify a little further...the religious edifice is located in a city/town/village the name of which has 8 letters. More often than not when one refers to the religious edifice one usually does so by saying the name of the city/town/village in which it is located. The nearby mummy awaits....

I don't know. Apparently the Medicis are buried in San Lorenzo in Florence, but this doesn't quite fit the clue either.

In order to visit the mummy you must wear special shoes.

In a nearby town, important local issues are decided only by people wearing swords.

Thanks for the hint!

By the way, you might want to tell people that there're two words in the future and break up the letters into 2 and 6.

Let's get someone else to post a clue. If not, then I'll post one later.

I'll post a clue to keep the game going.

Clue: This place has a longer name but is usually known as (2 words: 2, 5). It's located in a city with 5 letters. A performance of a work by (person 1: 7 letters), who's perhaps best known as a rival to (person 2: 6 letters), will mark its reopening. The work supposedly also inaugurated the place when it first opened.

To make it easier, first letter of person 1 = "s."

This was fun b/c it was not so obscure as some were beginning to get when I quit playing a few months ago. I don't have time here at work to think them up or to research them.

I think they're more fun when I have some inkling of what it might be or at least in which ball park to begin to look. Just MO.

Someone else take a turn now, plz.
