Europe - where to go next?

We have promised our adult niece another trip to Europe. So far, we traveled with her to Spain (various cities), Lisbon and Paris.

The trip will be for 15-17 days late this fall, a combination of air from Northeast USA and plane and train within Europe. Now, she would like to go new places such as Rome, Salzburg, Munich, Berlin, London and maybe repeat Paris or Barcelona. We will have to pick and I am coming to you for help recommending a logical itinerary with some of those cities.

Your help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

If I were you, I woul look into a Vienna-Salzburg-Munich route
if you can avoid Octoberfest which, I believe, is in September. You would be able to enjoy wonderful cities and
some great Bavarian countryside in between. Vienna itself is worth 5 days or so.

What a nice aunt and uncle you are!

I was thinking Bavaria too. That area is a lot of fun and it would probably be a nice contrast to the places you've been together.

In 2001 we purchased a 5 day 3 country RR pass (it did not have to be used 5 days in a row) and traveled from Vienna to Berlin to Rothenburg to Basel to Munich in three weeks. Leave out Switzerland and do Vienna, Prague, Dresden, Berlin as a train trip.

The weather will be warmer in the late fall in Italy than in Austria/Switzerland/Germany. You could fly into Rome, do the Naples/Pompeii/Capri/Sorrento area, then perhaps take the overnight ferry to Palermo and spend a few days in Sicily before heading home.
