Europe Tour
Hi, has anyone had any experience of doing a escorted tour of Europe (10-12 days)Italy, Switzerland, Germany, etc. We are looking at brochures but would like to hear some personal experience. Tauk tours looks way too expensive. Airlines offer trips also. Last year we used Delta to Disney and found it very satisfactory, no problems whatsoever, but of course we were already very familiar with what and where we wanted. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Please feel free to e-mail me. Thanks.

Hi Jo Carol,

My wife and I, along with some friends took a 10 day tour of Europe with Trafalgar. It was great. They were extremely organized. We stayed in very nice hotels, and their recommended things to do were excellent. I did however learn one very important thing. Try to find a tour that gives you as many 2 nights in one location as possible. One night is not enough because by the time you get into a city its almost time for dinner. The next morning you leave, and have seen very little of the area. E-mail me if I can give you any more help.

Jerry

We've gone both routes; independent travel and organized tours. We find that the best way (for us) is to limit the scope of a trip to one or (at most) two countries. We have traveled with TWA Getaway Tours, Maupintour, Globus, Grand Circle. Each was satisfactory in its own way, offering good value for money. E-mail us directly for more information and our unvarnished opinions. My sister has gone with Tauck again and again. But, then, she likes to go posh and spend big bucks on the trimmings. We don't.

I have NEVER understood why anyone who is not either 1) over 70 years or 2) significantly handicapped physically, would want to be on a tour. Do you need someone to hold your hand when you walk across a street in the big city in your state? Why be so fearful? You will NEVER see the real country you are visisting sitting on a bus all day with a bunch of other Americans. It's like going see a movie about the Grand Canyon and thinking you really went there. You didn't, and you won't if you go on a tour to Europe. You will talk, eat and sleep only with Americans. Why even leave Nebraska then? Save your money and go to Des Moines instead.
