Europe in December?
I'm planning on taking a trip to Europe for my birthday. However, this would be in December and i don't know what cities or places would be best to visit in December. How is the weather particularly in France, the Iberian pennisula, and Italy? Any sugestions???

December is actually not a bad time to go to Europe. Last December I spent a week in Paris and Amsterdam, it was awesome. The best part was that there were hardly any tourists -- no lines to get in museums. The temp was not bad in Paris (50s and 60s), but Amsterdam was a little cold. Everything was decorated for the holidays, so that more than made up for the chill. The lights in Paris at Christmas are amazing. I wouldn't hesitate to go again at that time of year.

hi

December weather is changeable in N Europe. Often grey with drizzle, it is unlikely to be below freezing or much exceed 10C (50f) during the day.

South of France may reach a sunny 20C (68f).

Check out weather history here -

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/weather/historical/historical.htm

Type the country name, then choose a city.

Peter
The Languedoc Page
http://tlp.netfirms.com
I was in Paris in early December a couple of years ago. It is a fairy land of lights. "Winter foods" were available. It was great.

If you've never been to Paris, ANY TIME is a good time!

I second the idea of going to Germany for the Christmas markets. I'd like to do that next.

Perhaps a December trip for you that includes Paris and some cities in Germany? Happy Birthday!
