Europe By Car vs. AutoEurope

Has anyone used Europe by Car for a car rental in Spain or elsewhere? How does it compare with AutoEurope? Any bad/good experiences?

I cannot give you any comparison information because my two rentals were with Avis, arranged by AutoEurope.
The two rentals I had with Avis in Switzerland were good experiences.
Good cars, good service, no hangups or arguments. Get car, drive car, return car, pay for rental with Visa, go home.
We've used Auto Europe a number of times with success. Only one minor problem when we were delayed in picking up a car in Florence on a Sunday morning until the rental agency opened. Last year, using the internet, we did a direct comparison of the two firms and Auto Europe was cheaper.

We used AutoEurope to rent two cars in France, and got exactly what we ordered, including a free upgrade to a larger car. It was through Avis - easy pickup and dropoff. The rates were the cheapest of all I looked at (including corporate discounts, etc.)

I just returned from Rome and used Auto Europe, I got a better car and a cheaper rate than I got thru Avis. However, may car was with Avis. Avis could not gtd me a auto shift and AutoEurope could. Our Car was great. Good luck
Connie

Gail

We used Europe by Car 2 years ago in Scotland. When we went to pick up the car at Glasgow's airport (at the Avis counter -- I think) we discovered they had reserved a "mini" for us. So there we were at 7:30 am (their time) my husband, myself, two teenagers, our lugguge - including son's golf clubs. I refused to accept it and finally after a lot of back and forth and checking with the manager there -- we were given a larger car. "Given" not the right word as we were charged an additional 100 and something pounds.

When we returned home, I called and wrote to Europe by Car -- eventually (months later) it was straightened out -- but I'm not sure I'd use them again.

We used Euopecar for a two week trip to Spain earlier this year. Best rates we could find on the upscale side (we had reserved a Mercedes, ended up with a Peugot 605 which was even nicer). Only problem was finding their return position at the train station in Barcelona. While looking for their place, we ran in and out of a number of other rental shops and the stories were just about the same all over: "I reserved a ----- and all they have is this ------." "What was this charge for?" "What do you mean you can't find our reservation?"

Good luck
