Radio 4 BBC had an interview with 3 BAME individuals this am who will not take it.

1) explained that she basically didn't feel she needed to as everyone else was having it
2) explained that she did not trust doctors and the state
3) no idea, I suspect generally confused as his speech was very clear but seemed to be a lack of confidence in information from the media

BAME group is very important in the UK as they are offering our lowest take up rates and yet are often in jobs with the highest danger and have suffered the highest loses, a terrible combo of poverty, overweight, high pop density in small houses/flats, users and workers in public transport and the NHS. The scientist who is running a qualitative view is highlighting a lack of trust in the state, a high level of trust and confidence in family members and a lack of understanding of relative risks.

Today I cancelled our trip to Verona. If the Festival offers another "delay" as they did last year we'll go for it and plan on attending in 2022. In the meanwhile we have reservations in Berlin and Munich for December of this year. All of those and the flights are fully refundable. Something to look forward to hopefully. My very best wishes to all.

I'm so sorry to read that, Dukey; I was looking forward to a TR.

We're still hoping something will work out in time for our July Switzerland trip.

And we’re hoping for a September Switzerland trip. Every day I go from optimism to pessimism. We’re now trying to decide if we just chuck anything in the Schengen zone and head to someplace in the area open to vaccinated Americans—Croatia? Albania? Possibly Greece? Wish I could read the tea leaves better for this Fall...or we just try for May 2022. Really hoping for something this year.

I suppose everyone on Fodors has already seen this new policy from France:

“We’re going to close nursery, elementary and high schools for three weeks,” Macron said, adding that a nationwide 7 p.m.- 6 a.m. curfew will be kept in place.

Macron said restrictions already applying in the Paris region and elsewhere will be extended next week to the whole country, for at least one month. Under these restrictions, people are allowed to go outside for leisure, but within a 10-kilometer (6 miles) radius from their homes — and without socializing. Also, most non-essential shops are closed down.

In addition, Macron promised to speed up the vaccination campaign by giving access to all people aged 60 and over in mid-April, those aged 50 and over in mid-May and the rest of the population a month later. So far, France has prioritized people living in nursing homes and those aged 70 and over, as well as health care workers and people with serious health conditions.

Our hopes for a July trip to Germany and the Maldives is dimming by the minute, as is our October visit to Switzerland.

Still holding out hope for a December trip to Austria (as yet un-booked).

Fingers and toes crossed.

Flying is actually pretty safe. We flew from Seattle to Boston on Delta and had a great experience. Neither of us caught so much as a sniffle. I would fly to Europe right now if I could and I wouldn’t worry a bit.
Airplane cabins have air filtration systems that clean the air circulating in the cabin. Many airlines have blocked seats, so no one will be sitting next to you. We wore masks, and Delta handed out Purell.

Switzerland is still in restaurant / events lockdown mode but shops are opened and schools have remained opened. The lack of restaurants is especially frustrating. Our Covid cases are increasing though and we're not innoculating fast enough so things can change in a matter of weeks.

Did you take any virus with you? I guess you'll never know.

We have Paris hotel vouchers with Accor and I called today about using them in Nov. We wanted to firm it up as we want to book Eurostar. We have credit with them also.

I had to call the hotel in Paris direct. So nice but the hotel is closed. He explained what they are going through. Hoping to open in May so call back then.

He also said proof of vaccination will be required.

Exciting news today for travelers. The CDC stated that people fully vaccinated can travel after the 2 weeks of receiving the last required dose of the Covid 19 vaccine. For International, people don't need a Covid 19 test prior to travel unless it is required by destination. and do not need to self quarantine after returning to the USA. People still will need a negative Covid 19 test before boarding a flight to the USA and a follow up test 3 to 5 days after their return.
Hopefully, Europe will start having lots of their population vaccinated before long. I'm ready to head to Germany!

Probably not. We gave our names, phone numbers, email addresses at restaurants, hotels, museums, etc. for contact tracing. We stayed at a B&B, too. No one ever contacted us to say that any Coronavirus cases occurred with anyone where we were.

Well the U.S. will be fully vaccinated by June while the EU will be lucky to be at 20% so...

I believe the correct word is “herd”.

Not much incentive for the US to open for EU travellers then.

We have so many new cases in Floriduh today. I have not been anywhere for 15 months. My husband is taking his first trip Wed to San Diego. His brother is having neck surgery and he is going to take him, pick him up, and care for him. He bought first class hoping to be away from others more. We have so many variant cases here also. I am not feeling safe to even eat out yet. The people are still flocking here that aren't vaccinated. Orlando airport is seeing the largest crowds for Easter week.

Allowing fully vaccinated people to travel is the only sensible thing to do, but I wonder how they are going to establish who is vaccinated and who is not. The little piece of paper I got with my vaccination (the first jab--for the second, they told me to just write in in myself) would not be very difficult to counterfeit. I can't fault the government for not coming up with something foolproof, as their priority is getting folks vaccinated, not creating a digital vaccine passport for whatever purpose, but it is going to leave governments in a bit of a quandry as to what to do about international travelers.

You would want to test for the right anti-bodies at the airport like they do in Taiwan.
