I am a 21 y/o female and I was thinking of taking a trip to Europe. It would be just me and my friend. We would have 14 days (15 if you include the day it would take to get there) I know this may be too much for us to tackle, but we want to try it anyway. We are planning on going to Rome, Paris, London, and Dublin. It would be about 3 days in each place. We would plan to take the overnight train from Rome to Paris. The train from Paris to London and then the ferry from London to Dublin. We were thinking of going in either June or July 08. (I know it's a long time from 08, but we want to be prepared) So what do you think? We are also trying to get a list of must sees. If you could help us there as well. Thank you so much!!

I've spent 5 weeks in europe on my own and it wasn't too long.

I thing it's a good route. I would recommend looking into ryanair or easyjet instead of the overnight trains. It can be cheaper and of course faster that way.

3 nights isn't bad, I'm glad you've planned that much. Alot of people try to rush. It's good to have at least 1 day where you can chill, restup or use for a recovery for having a nightout.

I think italy is the best, so I would recommend the south of italy - almalfi, sorrento, capri, positano and cinque terre. These are very relaxing, beautiful scenic places.

I think you've already got the best cities down.

There is no ferry from anywhere near London to anywhere near Dublin. The ONLY way that makes any sense on such a short trip is to fly from London to Dublin (otherwise you are taking a train across all of England and all of Wales, and then a ferry to Dublin)

But I'd rethink just a bit. You have just divided the time equally between 4 cities - even though there are 10 times more things to see/do in each of the others than there is in Dublin.

A reasonable itinerary (though still a bit rushed) would be open jaw into Rome, fly to Paris, train to London, fly home from London. That is doable in 2 weeks. I'd ditch Dublin.

BTW - flying from Rome to Paris will be much faster and probably much cheaper.

Yes, I guess I shouldn't have stated the ferry would be from London. We have actually thought about cutting Dublin out, but we are afraid if we don't do it now, we never will. We are still in college, so paying for that and other bills is what would keep us from taking another trip like this in the future. It is still a great possibility that we will just cancel out Dublin and stay 4 days in each place. I also checked out ryanair. What a great site!! Thanks. I not only found CHEAP airfare from Rome to Paris, but cheap hotel rates. (Not sure if they are actually good hotels) We are trying to do this on a semicheap budget. We don't want to sleep in nasty hotels though. So its kind of hard, but the hotels I found were cheap and seemed nice. If they are, then it would give us more money to go out and splurge on a nice dinner or more activities. Thanks for the responses so far.

Does anyone have a few off the path places in Paris, Rome, or London that they absolutely love? We want to see the usual tourist attractions, but would love to see something that you can't find in a book. I hear Southern France is beautiful, but I would have no idea where to go. Thanks for your help and insight!
