BTW I had never heard the term "Sylvester" (other than as a name) before so I googled it. Great word - rather than write New Years Eve.

I live in South France.

We can have up to 20C on a nice day in winter, but we tend to go away for a wekk or two.

I would suggest Cyprus, Malta or the Canary Islands as being reliably warm, easy to get to and safe.
