euro vs kuna

I will be going to Croatia and Montenegro in September. I understand I'll need euros in Montenegro. Can I pay exlusively with kuna's in Croatia?

That is their currency so I can't imagine why you couldn't.

Euro and US$ are accepted at some gift shops and the exchange rate wasn't that bad at couple of the tourists shops that I visited, but for anything else you will need Kuna.

We did the wall walk when in Dubrovnik 2 years ago and you had to pay in kuna. Many were disappointed when they were turned away. Perhaps things have changed, but plan on using the kuna in Croatia.

You're in for a beautiful trip!

Try not to get more kuna than you need, because they are not easy to convert to euros or dollars, esp outside the country.

ATM's are ubiquitous, so you can sort of buy enough every day for that day without stocking up if you are worried. I used a credit card for most stuff and about 200 kuna in cash for a two week trip.
