Eurail good on S-bahn in Germany
Don't forget, your eurail pass will cover your fare on the S-bahn in Germany. I didn't know this and ran into the same trouble this article talks about. There is a handy list of what you pass covers in Germany at the end too.

The Eurail/S Bahn confusion i read about on your link could come from some confusing language i have read vis a vis railpasses valid in Germany (Eurail, Germany, German-other country passes) is that it's good on all S-Bahns except those in Berlin that are not going between mainline railway stations
(Zoo to the new central station for example)
But in Berlin last January i asked a few times at train info counters and they told me it was good on all S-Bahns - i'm still not sure technically it is.
And since sometimes U Bahns and S Bahns run over the same trains be careful which train you are boarding if using a pass.
