We are planning a trip to the UK and Italy in late April/early May 2026. Do we need to get ETIAS?

You need an ETA to enter the UK. The ETIAS scheme to enter the EU will not start until later in 2026.

Be sure to use the correct website when applying for the ETA for the UK. There are scammers out there who will charge hefty fees for doing the same as you can do on your own. When I did mine, the app didn't work very well. But a few months later I did one for my DH and it did work very well.
