English entertainment in Paris

My husband and I, along with our 2 teenage daughters, will be in Paris during the last week of March. I am looking for evening entertainment, in english, that is good for my family. I would appreciate any suggestions to finding this?

Parisian entertainment is usually in French. You might look for a cinema that has American films, otherwise, see something with music that you don't need to understand the words, a ballet that you don't have to understand French. One of the things that you might want to remember, they expect you to understand them more than you should expect them to speak English..

You'll be in PARIS for crying out loud. Go see something in FRENCH. geez. (How many French tourists in the USA demand evening entertainment in French?)

hmmm... maybe they don't think it will be much fun to sit listening to Moliere in the original for hours and not understand anything?

Ok, there are lots of movies in Paris that will be subtitled in French but with the original English language. Look for a film guide and V.O. near the listing (version originale) which means it's shown in the original language and subtitled in French. Most of the American or English films shown in St-Germain are v.o., and lots on the Champs-Elysees, also. They tend to be dubbed more in the outer arrondisements.

There is an English-language comedy club that is popular with expats and the Anglophone community called Hotel du Nord. They have British comedians. That might be fun. There is a current events magazine called Paris Tempo for the English-speaking community which has current events listings. Here is its URL for a recent issue which gives you an idea of what's out there http://parisvoice.com/02/feb/html/calendar_english.cfm

That comedy club I mentioned is listed on there a couple citations down. Just go to parisvoice.com and click on the "English-speaking Paris" icon or something similar towards the top right.

Maybe they don't want to listen to Moliere in French, but the truth is , they are going to France, and they speak French there. So they might want to look into entertainment in French. What is the point in going to another country if you expect them to provide entertainment in English? Might was well stay home.
Jan-if you all get up early in the morning and you are sightseeing all day, odds are you will be glad to take a walk after dinner and go to bed early.Walk along the Champs Elysses at night, there are cinemas there, and they cater to American/English speaking tourists more ...

Years ago my friend and I went to a musical with which we were already familiar so the fact that it was being presented in French made it that much more fun. There are free church concerts where the language wouldn't be a problem. You may find that you are spending your evenings dining.
