If any healthy, adequately clothed, person feels even slightly uncomfortable in an English field in November, they need to obtain urgent medical attention.>

even slightly uncomfy -in rain in cool November perhaps? Maybe the flannerpooch could stand it but the average bloke?

I'm with flanneruk. Having lived in Oxford and having done a lot of walking in the Cotswolds, I can only agree that anyone put off by a bit of rain or temperatures that seldom dip below the teens, should probably limit their walking to the south of France. Of course, the terrain will dictate whether walking in adverse weather is prudent or not, but for most of England it shouldn't be a problem.

hahahahaha! Ok, so...Im not risk averse. I have backpacked and have all kinds of layers.

So lets say the Costwolds by train....ok so that would mean just regular tourism: take a train, book BnBs, pubs and just do day hikes. Is that what you mean?

At this point, I just dont know jack about what regions.

Il have 5 days. Ive looked at these:

North Downs Way

South Downs Way

Thames Path

reflex, there is nothing wrong with the walks you have found... but.... they are really marketing walks put together by organisations to funnel people down walks that get extra repairs, more stone and gravel and more pubs/bus support etc. The country is criss-crossed by thousands and thousands of miles of footpaths, as per the link I provided you.

I don't live anywhere special but if I walk out of my front garden I am within 6 footpaths inside of a 300 metres circle, amazingly one is actually a long distance path but not a high usage one. Outside of the cities this is not that unusual so you really can make up your own path, all you need is a map or an app with gps.
