I have redeemed frequent flyer miles to visit Europe and I have a one night stopover in London. I plan on staying near the airport, maybe in Hatton Cross or Hounslow. I have been to London and seen most of the sights, on this short visit I am interested in Hampton Court Palace.

My questions concernig Hampton Court Palace, which buses should I catch from/near Heathrow? I plan on checking into my hotel and then travelling to Hampton Court Palace the same day. My flight arrives at LHR at 8 am so I will buy a zone 1 t 6 travel card and intent to use that to visit Hampton Court Palace. Any advice on how best to get there from this area will be appreciated. I do not want to travel to Waterloo stn just to take a train to Hampton Court Palace that will take up alot of time. Also, is the bus stop far from Hampton Court Palace, how long of a walk would it be? I am not worried about jet lag, I do sleep well on planes and adjust to a new time zone fairly quickly.

Any advice will be appreciated. Thank you.

Both HCP and Heathrow are in zone 6 so I don't see why you'd need a zone 1-6 travelcard

Thanks, janisj. I plan on heading to Central London later in the day which is why I was going to buy a 1 -6 travelcard. I've rethinked this and will buy and top up and Oyster card so if I don't head to zone 1 and 2 the daily price cap will be less.

If you can find the bus number from the Transport for London website Janis has provided, you should be able to Google that and find a map where it shows each bus stop. It might appear on Google maps if you select Transit (top right).

Another idea is to look at the Hampton Court Palace website and check their transport section. We had a great day out there, didn't see everything but it took nearly a whole day. I wouldn't count on seeing much, if anything, in central London.

We also stayed once at the Jury's Inn at Hatton Cross which was fine, though nothing close by at all, no shops or restaurants. It was an easy 10 mins walk to the tube station. If you don't have time to get back into central London after visiting the palace, you could get something to eat at Heathrow. Terminal 5 is your best bet for restaurants though the Heathrow website will give you a list of what is in each terminal.
