I broke my rib just last month is Switzerland. ER in Interlaken, Xray, no advice or real help, no real pain medicine, 500 CHF and they wouldn't let us leave without paying the bill.

I will get 80% reimbursement from my US insurer, but the lack of treatment and not addressing the pain of a broken rib was very irritating. I walked out with no more help than I went in with.

I've been to the dentist once in Us and Once in London -cost about $US80 and 30pounds -doctor in New York and midwest at least 5 times .Costs range from $US150 to $US250. medicine about $US100. The doctor in New York I had to pay cash in advance. One of the vists in midwest was to a nurse practitioner at Walgreens-very impressed. At another visit to a clinic the bill was sent to our friends in the area and had to forwarded to us in Australia.
