Ela: re Poland

Ela: I tried to send you an email with some questions about Poland and it was returned twice as "user unknown". If you see this post and are willing, please send me your correct email address and I will forward my questions again. Thanks.

I'm in Poland right now but doubt if I can answer your questions as I'm not a native (my grandpa was, though). Jeans appear to be the national uniform, perfect for showing off that beer and potatoes physique. <BR>Czesc!

Joe, I also tried emailing Ela a couple times but as you said, the address is not available. I think we both got his info from an old thread & he no longer is at that email address. Ask your question in this forum & maybe others can help.

Brian: Ela is a she. Her last post wasn't that long ago, maybe two months at most. She invited direct emails since" she "doesn't come to this board much". I have asked the questions and while Peter has been very helpful, once you get beyond Warsaw, Krackow, Gdansk, Zakopane, etc., (the well known sites) there isn't much help. We have the time to do a big circle in Poland and intend to get into some smaller towns and remote places and Peter thinks Ela (because she lives in Poland) would be best to answer some of these questions. So, I am going to top for a while to see if I can raise her. But, thanks for your interest.

Andrzej: I just checked in at this thread (had pretty much given up) and saw your offer. Thank you very much. The problem is there is so much to see in Poland. After digesting two travel guides, I have noted 73 places that should be seen. Peter has provided some very good first hand information and I have put togethor a paired down itinerary which does the big name places and gets us out into the Country as well. In order, Warsaw, Ciechaow, Nowogrod, Lakes, Swieta Lipka, Mikolajki, Olsztyn, Olsztynek, Lidzbark Warminski, Frombork, Malbork,Gdansk an area, Hel, Leba, Kluki, Wdzydze Kiszewskie, Chelmno, Torun, Biskupin, Gniezno, Ladek, Pozan, Lubin,Karparcz, Jelenia Gora, Wroclaw, Czestochowa, Krakow, Tyniec, Salt Mines, Zakopane, Biecz, Samok, Krasiczyn, Przemysl, Lancut, Zamosc, Kazinierz Dolny and home. Obviously, some of these are stops to see a castle, monastary, cathedral, etc. Others are overnight and Gdansk, Warsaw, Krakow, Poznan, and Zakopane are multi-night stays. If you have any comments on any of this, good or bad, or want to add any "must sees", please do. We will have as much time as we want, although, we like to keep it to about 25 days. We don't at all mind the driving (do it all the time). To us, that is part of seeing the country. Look forward to your reply. Thanks.
