Eiffel Tower Restaurant
I will be in Paris with my husband and two teenage daughters for my birthday this July. It was recommended that we make reservations at the restaurant at the top of the Eiffel Tower, the Jules Verne. I'd like to know if anyone has eaten dinner there and if the food was worth the price. I'm actually leaning more toward going to a neighborhood restaurant instead of this tourist destination.

Judy, my mom and I ate lunch there and it was very good and very memorable. The food is 1 star Michelin, the views are incredible, service is wonderful and you get your own private elevator so no waiting in line! Having said all that it is also Michelin priced, our lunch was just about $300 for 2 (including wine) and this was a few years back.
When I have the chance to dine at any starred restaurants I never pass it up, they are truely memorable experiences. As Rex stated you'll need to make reservations now!

If you avoid all the "tourist destinations" in Paris you'll be making a big mistake, especially on this one..there's a big reason tourists and locals alike eat at this restaurant.
I hope you'll follow the recommendation and find out why for yourself and Happy Birthday, too.

I would suggest lunch--the view is memorable and the bill will be a bit easier on the pocketbook. Our lunch there using the prix fixe menu with a bottle of wine was $150. Without the wine it probably would be $125. It is as much a French businessman's destination as a "tourist" one. It is really wonderful.

My family have reservations for dinner at Jules Verne for June 2. I'll post when I return on our experience. I called about Feb. for reservations. On the first call, the guy said they were booked for dinner through Sept!!!!!. I called again, different person and got the reservation. Then I faxed a confirmation. I'm also going to fax another confirmation before we leave the US.

Just had a wonderful anniversary lunch there a couple of weeks ago...about $250 -300 and we had drinks, bottle of wine & pre-fixe menu. Everything was wonderful and the waiters were very nice and helpful (the menu was in french with no translation). We went on a clear day so the view was outstanding....it might not be as great on a hazy day.
