Eating in Barcelona-Eixample area?

Hi Everyone,

I'm not being lazy, I just was interested in your opinions on nice restaurants near our hotel (Hotel Majestic, on corner of Passeig De Gracia and Carrer De Valencia). If possible, I'd like to walk to dinner. We'll be there three nights, one night we'll eat at Drolma (the Hotel restaurant); the others needn't be fancy just nice! thanks,
Mike

I haven't eaten here, but it comes highly recommended and is close to your hotel:
María Cristina, at Provença, 269.

If you are interested in tapas, we really liked Cerveseria Catalana, at the corner of Rambla de Catalunya and Mallorca. We learned about it here and thought the tapas were outstanding. I'm not sure how far that would be from your hotel, but it is in the Eixample district.

I also recommend Cervesaria Catalana for dinner or lunch. The food is Fab, and the Tapas is first rate. Tragaluz is also a very good restaurant and a different dynamic from Drolma. Please give feedback on Drolma on your return.

I'd also like some good restaurant recommendations, I'm staying at The Ritz, so also nearby.

Doesn't have to be Spanish, Italian will do even better!

Some other restaurants in Barcelona that we didn't make it to on our recent trip, but have heard good things about :
(they are in Maribel's Barcelona file, and were also recommended to us by an excellent chef we met)

Abac- Michelin 2 star on Carrer Rec 79-89

Cal Isidre, on Carrer les Flores 12

Commerç 24, on Carrer deCommerç 24

We tried to get reservations at the first two for a Sunday night, but unfortunately, both were closed on Sunday.

Also, there's a dessert restaurant, Espai Sucre, that sounded really good- on Princesa 53.
